Blogs vs. Wikis

Blogs are a form of communication that allows everyone to be the author, whether they are writing on the actual blog, or commenting on it (How Can We Measure the Influence of the Blogosphere). With blogs, one person can be the author or there can be a whole community of authors and the topics are wide ranging. Like Blogs, Wikis are a form of collaboration. It is being used as an "online database" that anyone with permission can alter (How to Use Wikis For Business). Both of these forms of media have brought issues and topics to the audiences fingertips.  They are so easily accessible and simple to use, so anyone can write what they think, feel, and what they have researched, and in turn anyone can read it.  They also make it easy for groups and teams to work together and be able to bring different ideas to the table.  In a highly globalized world, not everyone has to be present in the office in order to participate in a project and be productive.  It allows people to have a virtual team/office. These new technologies, when used properly can be a very valuable tool.
